For more than sixty years, they have provided a vibrant training ground for many of the industry’s leading performers.
Voice & Ensemble training programme
In 2025, the RSC launched a new Voice & Ensemble training programme, led by their Emeritus Director of Voice, Patsy Rodenburg. Following a successful pilot year, this initiative – now named the Rodenburg Craft Ensemble – has become an annual offer.
The programme recruits a small cohort of emerging professional actors of exceptional potential for concentrated development in voice, text, presence and ensemble work.
The aim is to build greater artistic range and readiness – actors who can meet Shakespeare and classical text with confidence, specificity and authority, and who are better equipped to take on larger roles and greater responsibility within an ensemble.
